"I feel like he has drawn me closer to Him"
As a Pastor I will often find myself going to a hospital. Hospitals are not a place I enjoy to be, and today I had the pleasure of being in two hospitals, the double portion!!!
One of those visits was to a man in our Church who has been saved for many years. As I approached the bed he smiled a broad smile and said "Hello Pastor". He was glad to see me. This man has seen many people come to know the Lord Jesus down through the years and each time I meet him, I find it is him who is encouraging and lifting me.
As the conversation unfolded he began to tell me a number of things he has learned. While he had been in hospital he told me about how he feels the Lord is drawing him closer to Himself as he in hospital, he said "I feel like He has drawn me closer to Himself". This is a man who knows God's presence, who has over the years got to know the Lord. I thought, wouldn't it be great if every Christian had his attitude, his devotion, his love for Jesus. This country would not be the same. He loves Jesus and that is what we need more of in this country and even in the Church, people who love Jesus.
He also told me that the first time he felt God drawing near to him was when he had come to end of himself. God came near. There are times we feel we have come to an end of ourselves, but even then, there is still hope because there is still God. James 4:8 says "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.". I want that for my life to be near God, that is my goal.
People go to hospitals because they are not well and hopefully come out feeling better. I went to hospital today and came out feeling better, and it was not medicine that did it, I never talked to a doctor or a nurse, I talked to a man who is close to God.
God Bless.
